Santorini owes its unusual beauty to a series of volcanic eruptions which have given the island a truly impressive coastline, particularly at Fira, the capital, perched on the edge of a spectacular cliff. Here, the combination of a maze of narrow streets, white-washed houses and magnificent views make Fira a photographer's paradise. Just equally beautiful and also illustrated in many Greek postcards and calendars is Oia, blessed with the most amazing sunsets. In contrast, the east side of Santorini consists of a long stretch of black volcanic beaches, the most popular of which fringing the lively seaside resort of Kamari, located a 20 minutes' drive from Fira. As many of our properties in Santorini are positioned in tiers clinging to the rocky and steep cliff, guests with walking difficulties may find it inconvenient to challenge the many steps that link various parts of some hotels - please talk to us for advice and best recommendations.
